Authorities in Ragley, Louisiana are investigating the cause of a devastating explosion that destroyed a home, resulting in the tragic death of a teenage boy from Alabama and injuring five others.
Louisiana State Fire Marshal Bryan J. Adams stated that the explosion occurred on a Saturday morning, leading to the complete destruction of the house. Debris was scattered over a considerable distance, and nearby vehicles and structures suffered significant damage.
The victim, identified as 16-year-old Deuce Barrer from Theodore, Alabama, was fatally injured in the explosion. Five other individuals, including Barrer’s older sister and mother, were hospitalized. Fortunately, a toddler who was also in the house at the time of the incident escaped unharmed and is now under the care of relatives.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy for this family and community,” expressed Adams in a statement.
Witnesses living nearby described the explosion as feeling like an earthquake, causing items in their homes to fall to the floor and resulting in power outages.
Ragley, located approximately 20 miles north of Lake Charles, is now grappling with the aftermath of this tragic event.
