Far-right influencer Nick Fuentes claimed that an armed “would-be assassin” sought in a triple murder came to his home in Illinois to kill him on Wednesday night. The attacker was fatally shot by police in a neighbor’s yard, a narrative largely confirmed by law enforcement.
Fuentes, 26, who is known for promoting racist, sexist, and antisemitic views online, shared video footage of the armed assailant at his doorstep in Berwyn, attributing the incident to his address being leaked online.
“Last night an armed killer attempted to take my life at my recently doxed home,” Fuentes wrote on X, mentioning that the gunman had a pistol, crossbow, and incendiary devices. He believed the attacker intended to kill him but reassured followers that he was unharmed.
The suspect, identified as John Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois, had committed a triple homicide in southern Illinois before arriving at Fuentes’ residence. Lyons disobeyed commands from officers and engaged in a shootout with police, resulting in his death.
Fuentes posted surveillance footage showing the armed individual on his porch, wearing a motorcycle helmet and carrying a gun and crossbow. The incident occurred a day before Fuentes was scheduled to appear in court for a separate criminal case.
Neighbors of Fuentes recounted hearing the commotion and police presence on the night of the incident, expressing disbelief at the proximity of the triple killer to Fuentes’ residence. Fuentes himself confirmed that the shooter had targeted him specifically.
