A 31-year-old man was tragically shot and killed early Tuesday on a SoHo street known for its upscale shops. The incident appeared to be a botched robbery, as reported by both police and sources.Â
The shooting took place on Greene Street near Broome Street, right outside the men’s luxury fashion store Stone Island, around 5:15 a.m., according to authorities.Â
The victim, who was shot in the right thigh, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.Â
Police sources suggest that the man might have been a victim of a mugging gone wrong.
Authorities have withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of his family.
According to sources, the victim hailed from Bayonne, New Jersey.
A white luxury Range Rover was observed at the scene of the crime, cordoned off by police tape.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing, law enforcement officials confirmed.Â
