A female activist was captured on body cam footage threatening park rangers in a profanity-laced tirade as they arrested her for allegedly removing an American flag and replacing it with a Mexican one at a California park.
Crystal Aguilar, 24, was taken into custody for slashing a chain securing a flagpole at Hart Park in Bakersfield, throwing the US flag in the mud, and hoisting Mexico’s national banner in its place, as reported by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
“You’re not going to tell me what to do, this is Mexican land, motherf—ker!” Aguilar shouted at the approaching park rangers, as shown in the footage.
She allegedly resisted arrest, threatening the rangers and their families as they detained her. “Touch me, motherf—ker, and when your kids die…I’m Mexican. I’m Aztec, motherf—ker, and you’re going to pay,” Aguilar yelled.
“My dad is going to kill you and all your family. You think this is a joke. It’s not.”
Aguilar demanded the deputies turn off her car and leave her land, threatening them with her father’s actions.
Deputies responded to the park after reports of someone tampering with the flag, finding Aguilar’s car at the entrance as she interacted with the flags.
Aguilar, an immigrant rights activist in Kern County, had recently protested ICE raids in her community, citing her parents’ deportation when she was a child.
She was booked at Ledro jail on charges of threatening a peace officer, vandalism, resisting arrest, trespassing, and marijuana possession, with a court date set for Monday.
