HAMILTON, Ohio—Authorities in a southwestern Ohio community are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a vacant landmark building this week. The building, the former Beckett Paper Company in Hamilton, had no utilities connected, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and quickly engulfed the entire structure. Thick, black smoke billowed from the flames, visible for miles around the Cincinnati suburb.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which is currently under investigation by local authorities.
Emergency crews worked throughout the night to demolish the remains of the historic building, which was originally constructed in 1848 but had been vacant since 2011.
