Once again, the progressive leaders in California have shown themselves to be against law-abiding citizens: Take a look at the unsettling story of Will Luna, the dedicated owner of a retro video arcade in San Bernardino.
A group of criminals from a nearby homeless camp robbed and vandalized the arcade over the Thanksgiving holiday; after someone spotted the stolen items in the camp, Luna decided to investigate and managed to recover some of the stolen merchandise.
However, when he reported the incident to the police, they informed him that they were unable to enter or move the tents. Luna shared, “They said, ‘We can’t go inside, but you can.'”
So, the courageous small business owner took matters into his own hands and retrieved some of the stolen items.
The remaining stolen goods, including valuable PlayStation and Nintendo consoles and a vintage X-Men arcade game, were nowhere to be found.
The fact that the police couldn’t take action reveals the harsh reality: individuals like Luna are left to fend for themselves in California.
While the US Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of cities being able to dismantle homeless encampments, places like LA are only making minor efforts towards enforcement, prioritizing “homeless rights.”
The presence of these camps near Luna’s establishment not only poses a threat to him but also affects all the businesses in the retail plaza, which have experienced break-ins as the camps have expanded in recent years.
As Luna revealed to The Post, individuals living in the area would even engage in inappropriate behavior in front of neighboring businesses.
Allowing these camps to grow does not benefit the public interest. It is detrimental to businesses, law-abiding citizens, and even the homeless individuals themselves, many of whom require mental health and addiction support and should not be left unchecked to harm themselves or others.
So, why are these camps supported by activists?
Because for today’s leftists, those who follow the law are seen as the villains, while lawbreakers, whether drug addicts, illegal immigrants, or criminals, are the ones considered worthy of legal protection.
These actions have a negative impact on businesses, law-abiding citizens, and the homeless population itself, who often require assistance with mental health and addiction issues and should not be left unchecked to cause harm.
So, why do activists support them?
Because, for many modern leftists, those who follow the law are the villains, while lawbreakers, whether drug addicts, illegal immigrants, or criminals, are the only ones deemed worthy of legal protection.
