Former White House physician and current Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) provided an update on former President Donald Trump’s injuries sustained in an assassination attempt. The gunman shot Trump in the ear during a campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Dr. Jackson stated that the bullet caused a 2 cm wide wound that led to significant bleeding and swelling of the upper ear. However, the swelling has now subsided, and the wound is beginning to heal properly. Dr. Jackson mentioned that due to the presence of many blood vessels in the ear, there is occasional bleeding, requiring a dressing to be applied. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital and confirmed that Trump is recovering well and will undergo further evaluations, including a hearing exam. Trump himself described the harrowing experience at the Republican National Convention, emphasizing how close he came to being killed if not for a fortunate turn of events. The gunman also injured two men and killed one individual during the incident.
