Her husband took to Facebook to announce the passing of his wife, Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube, who lost her battle with non-small cell lung cancer at the age of 56.
Dennis Troper shared the heartbreaking news, expressing his deep sorrow over the loss of his wife of 26 years. He described Wojcicki as a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a cherished friend.
“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of Susan Wojcicki passing. My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after 2 years of living with non-small cell lung cancer,” Troper said in a post on Facebook.
He emphasized that Wojcicki was not only his best friend and life partner but also had an immeasurable impact on their family and the world.
“We are heartbroken, but grateful for the time we had with her,” he added. “Please keep our family in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time.”
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, also paid tribute to Wojcicki, highlighting her significant contributions to Google and the world.
Wojcicki and Troper tied the knot in 1998 and have five children together. Tragically, their 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, passed away earlier this year from a drug overdose at the UC Berkeley campus where he was a freshman.
Wojcicki, a trailblazer in the tech industry, served as the CEO of YouTube for nine years before stepping down last year to focus on her family, health, and personal projects.
