French Husband Admits to Drugging Wife for Rape by 70 Men
The shocking confession of Dominique Pelicot, 71, took place in court on Tuesday. He admitted to drugging and filming his wife, Gisele, 72, being raped by over 70 men for nearly a decade. In a remorseful statement, he acknowledged his guilt and pleaded for forgiveness from his family.
Pelicot confessed to the charges, including rape, gang rape, and privacy breaches related to recording and sharing sexual images. He also revealed that he had participated in the abuse himself, along with the other men.
Expressing deep regret for his actions, Pelicot asked for forgiveness from his wife, children, and grandchildren, acknowledging that his behavior was unforgivable.
During his testimony, Pelicot addressed the other men on trial for the rape of his wife, stating that they were aware of the situation and complicit in the crimes.
Blaming his deviant behavior on a troubled childhood and past trauma, Pelicot claimed that he had become a perpetrator as a result of his experiences. His former wife expressed shock at his actions, stating that she had never suspected him of such atrocities during their 50-year marriage.
Further revelations about Pelicot’s actions came to light, including his arrest in 2020 for filming up a woman’s skirt, offering sex with his wife on a website, and recording the abuse. Prosecutors discovered disturbing images of his daughter among the 300 photographs and videos of the abuse.
Pelicot now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for his crimes.
