Having transitioned from being a vegan chef to a regenerative cattle rancher, I’ve straddled the worlds of health-focused communities in Los Angeles and the rural landscapes of Texas. My journey has involved a shift in perspectives, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously immersed in organic farming and plant-based nutrition, I found myself grappling with changing attitudes towards chemicals in food and water. This led me to engage with voices from different ideological backgrounds, including those on the political right.
One such voice that resonated with me was Tucker Carlson, whom I had initially dismissed. However, I discovered common ground in our concerns for our families’ health and the environment. This realization challenged my preconceived notions and opened up a dialogue with individuals I once considered adversaries.
Similarly, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s advocacy for informed consent and transparency in food and pharmaceutical systems struck a chord with me. Despite criticism from some in my community, I see his vision for the Department of Health and Human Services as aligned with my values, especially regarding regenerative agriculture and parental empowerment.
As a mother and farmer, I believe in the importance of understanding what goes into our food and vaccines. RFK Jr.’s emphasis on reducing chemicals in the food supply and promoting soil health resonates with me deeply.
The recent acceptance of more chemicals in our food and water by some on the left is concerning. It goes against the core principles of environmentalism and poses risks to both human health and the environment. We must prioritize clean air, water, and safe food for the well-being of future generations.
Despite political divides, I urge support for RFK Jr.’s confirmation hearings for the role of Secretary of Health and Human Services. His track record as an environmental advocate and his commitment to holding corporations accountable make him a valuable candidate for transformative change in our food systems.
As we navigate through challenging times, it is crucial to seize this opportunity for meaningful reform that prioritizes public health and environmental stewardship. RFK Jr.’s potential impact on the Department of Health and Human Services could lead us towards a healthier food system and a more equitable society.
