The two Georgia election workers who sued Rudy Giuliani are seeking control over his assets after winning a $146 million defamation judgment against him in December. According to an Aug. 30 filing in the Southern District of New York, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss listed Giuliani’s Florida condo, New York apartment, and various other assets, including watches, and his Mercedes SL500.
“Now that Mr. Giuliani’s bankruptcy case has been dismissed, Plaintiffs are finally in a position to receive compensation by enforcing their judgment,” the filing read. The Plaintiffs are seeking two remedies under New York law: requiring Giuliani to turn over personal property to satisfy the judgment and appointing them as receivers with the power to take possession of and sell his real and personal property.
Other items listed in the filing included sports memorabilia, a diamond ring, and three Yankee World Series Rings. Giuliani, who served as New York City’s mayor during the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, was one of former President Donald Trump’s attorneys during the 2020 election fallout.
The women are looking to collect assets valued at a fraction of the jury award in Washington. Giuliani accused the women of mishandling ballots, leading to a defamation lawsuit. A judge in Washington rejected Giuliani’s attempt to dismiss the judgment.
Giuliani filed for bankruptcy shortly after the verdict but the case was dismissed due to his uncooperative conduct. Giuliani disclosed the value of his New York apartment and Florida condo in financial filings. He has faced disbarment in New York over his statements about the 2020 election.
