Survey company finds that Republicans have a favorable election environment.
Gallup reported on Sept. 24 that Republicans are ahead in nine out of 10 key measures historically predictive of elections.
Furthermore, respondents expressed confidence in the Republican Party’s ability to handle various areas, including the economy.
Only 22% of respondents indicated satisfaction with the current economic situation, with many expressing lack of confidence in the economy. Additionally, only 39% approved of President Joe Biden’s performance, as his vice president, Kamala Harris, competes with former President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential race.
A majority of respondents also indicated a preference for reduced government involvement.
Additionally, Gallup’s aggregate of poll results from July to September indicated a majority of respondents identifying as Republican or leaning Republican.
Gallup stated that nearly all indicators favor the Republican Party over the Democratic Party, with the exception of congressional job approval. Despite only 20% of respondents approving of Congress’s performance, each party currently controls one chamber.
Gallup suggested that the election landscape appears favorable for Trump and the Republicans, although recent polls have shown similar favorability ratings for Harris and Trump, with a close race expected.
Neither the Harris and Trump campaigns nor the Republican and Democratic National Committees responded to comment requests.
Based on the current electoral map, Trump is projected to win 219 electoral votes, Harris 215, with 104 remaining votes too close to predict.
In the 2016 election, Trump secured 304 electoral votes, while Biden won the 2020 election with 306 electoral votes. A candidate must receive a majority of votes to win.
