The Republican candidate has outpaced the Democrat by $1 million in fundraising, but the Democrat still maintains a significant advantage in available cash.
During the spring season, U.S. Senate candidate Steve Garvey managed to raise more funds than his competitor, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), in their bid for the California Senate seat previously held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
The fundraising totals were not commented on by Mr. Schiff’s campaign.
Despite raising more money, Mr. Garvey trails behind in cash on hand with nearly $3.3 million compared to Mr. Schiff’s nearly $6.5 million, based on information provided by Mr. Garvey’s office to The Epoch Times.
FEC filings for July 15 were not yet available on the website.
Both campaigns have received significant support through individual donations made via political party websites.
Mr. Garvey expressed his gratitude for the contributions, stating, “I value every dollar that contributes to our goal of reinstating civility and leadership in Washington D.C.”
The poll revealed that 90 percent of Republicans favored Mr. Garvey, while independents were more evenly split with 53 percent supporting Mr. Schiff and 45 percent backing Mr. Garvey.
In the March primary election, Mr. Schiff narrowly clinched victory among a crowded field of candidates, securing 31.6 percent of the vote with approximately 2.304 million votes. Mr. Garvey followed closely behind, garnering 31.5 percent or 2.301 million votes.
