Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the Missouri woman who convinced her online boyfriend to kill her mother, has been released from prison on parole after serving 85 percent of her sentence. Her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a disorder in which caregivers fabricate or exaggerate illnesses in their children for attention. Dee Dee kept Gypsy Rose confined, making her pretend to have leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and other serious conditions. Dee Dee was killed in 2015, ending years of abuse towards her daughter.
