Concerns have been raised by friends of missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi regarding the final string of text messages that family members and friends received from her cell phone, with many noting that they did not sound like her.
One friend, Ariana Ursua, who has known Kobayashi since 2017, mentioned that the text messages in question did not match Kobayashi’s usual messaging style, which typically included emojis like hearts, stars, butterflies, waves, and rainbows.
Ursua described Kobayashi as a caring individual and expressed disbelief at the idea that she would voluntarily disappear without informing anyone. She also highlighted Kobayashi’s enthusiasm for future plans, such as attending Burning Man in 2025 and visiting New York in October.
Kobayashi was last seen on November 8 when she flew from Maui to Los Angeles, with plans to connect to a flight to New York City to visit her aunt. However, she never made it to her final destination.
Further suspicions arose when Kobayashi’s father died by suicide six days after her disappearance, with reports indicating that he was searching for her at LAX.
Despite these troubling events, friends and family continue to search for Kobayashi, with many questioning the authenticity of the text messages she sent before her disappearance.
One message in particular mentioned a “very intense spiritual awakening,” adding to the mystery surrounding Kobayashi’s whereabouts.
âWhat was most concerning was the use of the word âhun.â She does say loving words like that, but it felt kind of cryptic her message,â said Peterson, who once ran a floral design business with Kobayashi and last spoke to her on October, 5.
Since Hannah was heard from last on Nov. 11, the internet has been speculating over her whereabouts, with some alleging she was brainwashed by a cult or blackmailed by African hackers.
Her father, Ryan Kobayashi, 58, died of an apparent suicide on Sunday Nov. 24, six days after his daughter was reported missing. The Los Angeles County medical examiners confirmed Monday that he jumped from a LAX parking garage on while looking for his missing daughter.
âIt feels really weird how cryptic [the messages are] considering how not cryptic Hannah is. At least the Hannah I know,â Ursua said. âI pray sheâs still alive.â
