The events on college campuses regarding pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel sentiments serve as a stark reminder that the ideologies taught in universities today manifest in the actions seen on the streets tomorrow. The rise of protests and demonstrations in support of terrorist organizations, calls for divestment from Israel, and chants advocating violence and anti-Semitic rhetoric showcase the impact of education on societal beliefs and behaviors. The lack of focus on traditional education, history, and critical thinking, coupled with the embrace of neo-Marxist narratives and critical theories, has created a new ideological monoculture that influences the perspectives of many students. This shift towards anti-Israel and anti-Western sentiments, as well as collaboration between the radical left and Islamic jihadists, highlights the need to reevaluate the educational priorities and values being instilled in young individuals. The rise in antisemitism on campuses is a direct reflection of what is being taught or ignored within the university environment. Just like the old musical said, “We’ve got trouble in River City!” The protests may quiet down after the spring semester, but they will resurface during the political conventions in late summer and when students return to campuses in the fall.
