Hockey legend Lanny McDonald credits a Calgary policeman, Constable Jose Cives, for saving his life after he suffered a cardiac arrest in February this year. Despite facing challenges during the resuscitation process, Constable Cives remained determined to save Mr. McDonald’s life.
After 10 minutes of intense efforts, including the use of an AED, Mr. McDonald eventually regained consciousness and received medical attention from emergency services. Since then, a strong friendship has developed between Mr. McDonald and Constable Cives.
Sharing coffee, laughter, and stories, the two have formed a close bond. Despite Mr. McDonald’s rib and sternum injuries during the resuscitation, he remains grateful to Constable Cives for his life-saving actions.
