Homeless Man Attacks Boys Selling Candy in Manhattan Train Station
A homeless man with a lengthy criminal record assaulted two boys selling candy inside a Manhattan train station on Wednesday night in a failed robbery attempt, according to officials and police sources.
The two boys, aged 11 and 16, were selling candy inside the Broadway-Lafayette B/D/F/M station around 6:30 p.m. when Alvin Doris followed them and tried to steal $40 from the younger boy before taking the teenager’s cell phone, the police said.
According to the police, when the 16-year-old tried to retrieve his phone, Doris became violent, punching the teen multiple times in the face.
Doris, 62, then threw the teen’s cell phone to the ground and hit the 11-year-old in the face, resulting in a fractured nose, officials stated.
Doris was charged with robbery, acting in a manner injurious to a child, assault, and criminal mischief.
