A shocking video captured the horrifying moment when a masked assailant used a belt to choke a woman unconscious on a Bronx street, before dragging her to the ground and raping her between two cars in a sickening attack last week.
The terrifying incident occurred around 3 a.m. on May 1 as the perpetrator followed the 45-year-old victim, who was walking on the sidewalk at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue, according to police.
The video footage shows the man pulling out a belt and wrapping it around the woman’s neck.
He then drags the victim several feet down to the pavement until she loses consciousness, as seen in the shocking video obtained by The Post.
The video further shows him dragging the woman between two cars, where he proceeds to rape her.
The assailant fled the scene after the attack and remains at large as of Thursday.
The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is currently investigating this violent sexual assault.
This heinous crime comes amidst the department’s crime statistics from April, which revealed an increase in reported rapes – with 124 cases reported last month compared to 118 in April 2023.
However, overall rape cases are down citywide so far this year, with 141 reported through May 5 compared to 148 during the same period in 2023, as per the latest data.
