Wisconsin has long been known for its heavily gerrymandered legislative districts that heavily favored Republicans, despite the state having a roughly equal share of Democrats and Republicans. This resulted in Republicans holding large majorities in the State Assembly and Senate. Earlier this year, new maps were adopted which have shifted the political landscape in favor of Democrats, giving them renewed optimism.
With the new maps in place, there is a sense of new energy for Democrats in Wisconsin. This has raised questions about whether these changes will impact Democratic support up and down the ballot.
