Human remains were found behind a Long Island home improvement store Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The grisly discovery was made after cops received a 911 call for a possible body found in a wooded area behind Lowe’s at 700 Dibblee Drive in Garden City at 2:19 p.m., according to Nassau County Police.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the human remains near an abandoned encampment, according to cops.
The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s office, authorities said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police said the disturbing Long Island find does not appear to be related to bodies connected to accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann.
Authorities urged anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-24-TIPS.
