Currently, Trump and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris have one confirmed debate scheduled for Sept. 10.
A pair of proposed presidential debates may transform into town hall meetings for former President Donald Trump, as confirmed by his campaign to The Epoch Times on Aug. 11.
Trump is now awaiting Harris’s acceptance of two additional proposed debatesâSept. 4 on Fox News and Sept. 25 on NBC News.
If Harris declines these proposals, which Trump presented during an Aug. 9 news conference, Trump will proceed to appear solo on the mentioned national TV networks as stated by a Trump campaign advisor.
The Epoch Times has reached out to the Harris campaign for comments.
Additional details about the moderators and locations of the proposed debates have also been disclosed.
The Fox News debate or town hall on Sept. 4 would be broadcast live from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
On Sept. 10, David Muir, anchor of âABC World News Tonight,â will act as the moderator for the confirmed showdown at Philadelphiaâs Independence Hall.
On Sept. 25, NBCâs Lester Holt is set to moderate the proposed faceoff in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The confirmed and proposed locations are significant as they are situated in two battleground states.
The network has not yet responded to The Epoch Times’ request for comments.
The upcoming debates are highly anticipated due to the unique circumstances of this election cycle.
On June 27, Trump and President Joe Biden engaged in a debate conducted by CNN in Atlanta. Biden’s performance in the debate led to calls for him to withdraw from the race.
On July 13, Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bystander was killed and three individuals, including Trump, were injured. The suspected gunman, positioned on a rooftop with a rifle, was neutralized by a Secret Service sniper. The incident has sparked criticism of security lapses at the event.
Subsequently, on July 21, Biden exited the race but pledged to complete his presidential term.
The Trump campaign has criticized Harris for avoiding media interviews, while Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), conducted news conferences last week highlighting the distinctions between their campaign and Harris’s.
