President Biden warned Black voters in Atlanta that former President Donald J. Trump posed a dangerous threat to the country’s future, calling him “unhinged” and urging voters to see the election as a choice between protecting democracy or letting it decline.
This message was a preview of his upcoming speech at Morehouse College, a historically Black institution, where Biden addressed concerns over the war in Gaza and emphasized the importance of defeating Trump.
Biden emphasized the need to prevent Trump from winning a second term, stating, “We cannot let this man become president. We have to win this race, not for me but for America.”
Despite portraying himself as a defender of stability and international order, Biden’s approval ratings are low, and he is trailing behind Trump in key battleground states like Georgia.
Biden’s strategy in Georgia focused on highlighting the potential consequences of a Trump victory rather than promoting his own political brand.
Referring to Trump as “unhinged,” Biden pointed to recent statements made by the former president, including a remark about becoming a dictator on Day 1.
Addressing concerns about polling data, Biden dismissed the polls and emphasized the importance of focusing on actual election results, citing examples of Nikki Haley peeling away votes from Trump in primary elections.
“It’s not about me,” Biden told supporters in Atlanta. “It’s about the alternative as well.”
