During the 2024 campaign, Trump pledged to end the conflict swiftly if reelected and criticized the extensive aid provided to Ukraine. Biden’s administration assured a smooth transition, continuing aid approved by Congress for Ukraine.
Waltz urged adversaries not to exploit the transition period before Trump’s inauguration in January 2025, emphasizing unity between administrations. Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine’s stance against ceding land to Russia and expressed optimism about a resolution with Trump in power.
Following the recent escalation and Putin’s warning of a potential global conflict, discussions between Trump and Putin on Ukraine’s future are anticipated. Despite the evolving situation, Peskov affirmed Russia’s commitment to its security interests in the region.
