From Jumpsuit to Jumpstart: Inmate Helps Hotwire RV He Allegedly Stole
An inmate in Washington state was temporarily released from jail to assist in jumpstarting an RV that he is accused of stealing. The inmate, still in his orange jumpsuit labeled “Aberdeen City Jail,” was caught on video bending down to help the owner, Olive Teague, with her Seattle Mermaid School diving business.
The inmate was called upon by a frustrated police officer who couldn’t start the engine of the recovered camper, which had been vandalized by squatters, as reported by Teague to FOX 13 Seattle.
Surprisingly, instead of another officer, the officer brought the inmate, who had been charged with stealing the 1996 Ford F350 in December, to help. A viral TikTok video posted by Teague shows the inmate guiding her friend on how to jumpstart the RV with a screwdriver.
Teague’s RV, stolen in December, was recovered in March with significant damage, including missing parts and fire damage, as well as being used for over 1,300 miles by squatters.
Teague has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of repairing her RV. She expressed her gratitude for the inmate’s help in jumpstarting the vehicle and highlighted the need for assistance in restoring her stolen property.
The inmate’s charges and the response from the jail were not immediately available for comment.
