Economist and author Arthur B. Laffer and Libertarian Party presidential candidate Chase Oliver engage in a debate on the topic, “Among the candidates actively running for President in November, Donald Trump is the best choice.”
Supporting the resolution is Laffer, known as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics,” with his famous Laffer Curve being a cornerstone of supply-side economics. Laffer has a rich history of advising influential leaders like President Ronald Reagan and U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. In 2019, Laffer was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump. He is also a prolific author, with his latest book titled Taxes Have Consequences: An Income Tax History of the United States.
Opposing the resolution is Oliver, the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate. Oliver gained prominence in the party during the 2022 Libertarian Senate race in Georgia, where he made a significant impact on the election results.
The debate was moderated by Soho Forum Director Gene Epstein.
