A 6-year-old girl who had been missing for over a month after being kidnapped was rescued by a Kansas highway trooper, who also took two men into custody, authorities said on Saturday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over an SUV for a traffic violation and discovered that the front-seat passenger had a warrant for his arrest from another state for kidnapping the young girl just over a month earlier, according to the agency.
Upon inspection, the trooper noticed a girl of similar age inside the vehicle with the two men in their 60s. It was later revealed that the driver had a criminal history involving homicide and multiple weapons violations.
With the assistance of a local sheriff’s deputy, the trooper secured both men and safely removed the girl from the vehicle, the highway patrol reported.
Despite initially providing a false name and date of birth, the girl eventually disclosed her real identity after the trooper calmed her down, the agency explained. She was confirmed to be the victim of the kidnapping who had been on the run with the suspects for over a month.

The girl was unharmed, and both men were taken into custody by the agency.
Kansas Highway Patrol informed Fox News Digital that the traffic stop took place in February. They are currently unable to provide further details to safeguard the child’s identity and the ongoing investigation.
