Teen Verizon Worker Attacked, Threatened with Knife, and Robbed in Broad-Daylight Ordeal
A 19-year-old teen Total by Verizon worker was thrown to the ground, threatened with a knife, and nearly raped by a sicko who then robbed the shop in a terrifying incident in East Harlem, according to police reports.
The victim, who had recently moved to the US and had only been working at the Madison Avenue store for a week, was attacked by the stranger who barged in on a Sunday around noon, as per police and a coworker.
“The guy initially seemed like a regular customer browsing phones, but then suddenly turned aggressive and held a knife at her,” coworker Riaz Fahim told The Post.
The perpetrator looked at an iPhone 11 display before following the worker to the back of the store and pinning her down, as described by the coworker.
“She ran to the back room, and the guy followed her into the room. She had hot tea in her hand and tried to throw it at him, but he grabbed her arm and avoided it,” Fahim added.
According to the coworker, the victim, who had recently moved from Bangladesh, was alone in the store at the time of the incident.
The criminal ultimately stole three cell phones and $1,000 before fleeing, according to the police. The NYPD also took an iPhone 11 from the display case that the suspect had been handling as part of their investigation, Fahim stated.
“She hasn’t returned to work,” he said. “I don’t think she will come back to work here; she’s too traumatized. Even in her home country, Bangladesh, she never faced any kind of assault. This was the first in her life. She moved to America to chase the American Dream.”
Authorities released a video showing the suspect walking on the sidewalk wearing all black, with his hood up.
The suspect is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, approximately 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, slim build, short black hair, and a short black beard, as per authorities.
