Working for Joe Biden seems to come with a mindset that laws are not really applicable to those in power, as evidenced by Justice Department civil rights chief Kristen Clarke’s recent admission of lying during her Senate confirmation process.
In response to Sen. Tom Cotton’s question about being arrested for a violent crime, Clarke falsely answered no, omitting a 2006 domestic violence incident where she allegedly injured her husband. Clarke now contends that because the arrest was expunged, she was not obligated to disclose it to lawmakers.
This kind of reasoning is emblematic of the top Biden appointees’ approach to issues. Clarke has also previously shown ignorance on important matters, such as a First Amendment lawsuit against the president, further calling into question her judgment and integrity.
Her lack of honesty and questionable past actions raise concerns about her fitness to ensure laws are upheld and justice is served. Serving at a high level in the Justice Department, someone who lies under oath cannot be trusted with such crucial responsibilities.
Clarke’s history includes lobbying for leniency towards Black Panthers in 2009 and associations with individuals holding controversial beliefs, portraying her as a radical figure. However, in the current administration, ideological alignment appears to outweigh principles of integrity.
Under Biden’s leadership, the Justice Department has been utilized as a tool to enforce political agendas, often at the expense of impartiality. This shift has been evident in actions like targeting parents protesting school boards, emphasizing ideology over ethical conduct.
