The Wisconsin teacher accused of “making out” with an 11-year-old student in her classroom is now facing additional charges and could potentially receive a lifetime prison sentence if found guilty.
Madison Bergmann, 24, has been charged with nine more felonies, including using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, sexual misconduct by school staff, child enticement causing harm, and exposing a child to harmful materials, as per an amended complaint filed recently.
The former fifth-grade teacher at River Crest Elementary School was initially charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.
If convicted on all counts consecutively, Bergmann could face up to 185 years behind bars.
This marks a drastic downfall for Bergmann.
According to the criminal complaint, Bergmann’s alleged misconduct with the 11-year-old boy was discovered when the student’s mother overheard a phone conversation between her son and the teacher. Upon investigation, the parents found inappropriate texts between the two on the boy’s phone.
The disturbing text exchanges included discussions of encounters in the Hudson, Wis., classroom during lunch or after school, where Bergmann allegedly expressed enjoyment in physical contact and “making out” with the child.
Some of the alleged incidents took place in Bergmann’s classroom, as per the complaint.
The boy’s father confronted River Crest Elementary School administrators with printed copies of the conversations, leading to police involvement.
A search of Bergmann’s classroom resulted in the discovery of a folder with the victim’s name containing handwritten notes detailing their interactions.
Bergmann’s wedding, scheduled for July, was called off following her arrest, with her fiancé, Sam Hickman, expressing shock and disappointment over the accusations.
“He’s really, really hurt. Not talking too much about it, just like, ‘This is f–ked up,'” said a friend of the groom, referring to Hickman’s reaction to the situation.
Bergmann has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and her attorney has not responded to requests for comment from The Post.
