In a statement announcing the charges, District Attorney George Gascón urged anyone with information to come forward.
LOS ANGELES—A South Bay man, Michael DiGiorgio, has been charged with 18 felony counts, including murder and rape by use of a drug, for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting seven women at his homes in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. One of the victims died as a result of the alleged drugging. DiGiorgio appeared in court on Friday and is set to return for arraignment on Nov. 6.
The criminal complaint states that the assaults occurred between May 2019 and August 2020. The victim who died in July 2020 is identified as “Jane Doe 1” in the complaint. Two other victims suffered great bodily injury at the hands of DiGiorgio.
DiGiorgio is facing charges of murder, forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person by use of a drug, and other related charges, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He was arrested by Redondo Beach police on Thursday and is currently held without bail.
If convicted, DiGiorgio could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. District Attorney Gascón expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, urging anyone with information on these incidents or any others involving DiGiorgio to contact the Redondo Beach Police Department.
