A man in Colorado was shot early Saturday while checking on his brother’s apartment after a security camera alert, only to come face-to-face with an armed robber who shot him before fleeing the scene.
The 25-year-old victim lived in the same Thornton apartment complex on East 104th Avenue as his brother, who was not at home at the time, ABC 7 Denver reported.
Upon receiving a security alert about movement outside his brother’s unit around 2:40 a.m., the absent brother called and requested his sibling to investigate.
Upon entering the home, the victim encountered the suspect, who brandished a gun, fired at least one shot, and fled with undisclosed valuables, according to the Thornton Police Department.
The victim was promptly taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. The suspect, on the other hand, is still on the run following the alarming incident.
The security camera footage captured images of the shooter, who was last seen wearing a black mask, gray sweatpants, a black sweatshirt, and what appeared to be a black puffy vest.
Although authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, they urge anyone with information to contact the Thornton Police Department tip line at 720-977-5069.
