Man Fatally Stabbed During Bronx Subway Brawl
A 33-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a Saturday afternoon brawl on a subway train in the Bronx, police and sources told The Post.
The victim, Nigel Dumas, got into a squabble with a 37-year-old career criminal, Shane Cunnison, on a northbound 2 train near the 3rd Avenue-E. 149th Street subway station in the South Bronx around 3:20 p.m., according to cops.
During the altercation, Cunnison stabbed Dumas in the chest with a knife. Dumas was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Cunnison was arrested at the subway station and charged with first-degree manslaughter. He has a history of previous arrests, including attempted rape in Brooklyn in 2009.
This incident adds to the recent string of subway stabbings across New York City.
In another incident, a man was stabbed while waiting for a train, and a box-cutter-wielding assailant slashed a man on board a train. The city is on high alert following these violent attacks.
Authorities are investigating the incidents and working to ensure the safety of commuters in the city.
Meanwhile, a 66-year-old grandmother was found stabbed to death in her Brooklyn home, adding to the concerns about violent crimes in the city.
