The 21-year-old man was found with a firearm in a tactical bag near the Republican National Convention (RNC) on July 15, as reported by the Milwaukee Police Department to The Epoch Times. The suspect, wearing a ski mask, had no concealed carry permit. The U.S. Capitol Police arrested him on N. 11th Street, and charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
On the next day, a 43-year-old man armed with knives was fatally shot by law enforcement officers from Columbus, Ohio, outside the RNC security area. The man was shot when he allegedly charged at another individual during an argument.
The Fraternal Order of Police organization in Ohio stated that Columbus Police Officers and officers from various jurisdictions nationwide were at the RNC to support Milwaukee police with event security.
Additionally, a female pro-Palestinian protester with CODEPINK, Nour Jaghama, accused a Republican House member, Rep Derrick Van Order (R-Wisc.), of assaulting her. Van Order claimed he was assaulted by a member of CODEPINK while waiting to enter an event at the RNC, and the individual was subsequently arrested.
CODEPINK released a statement regarding the incident, highlighting the alleged misogyny at the RNC. The RNC took place from July 15 to 18.
