A man with the name of a famous “Autobot” leader, Optimus Prime Blakely, was arrested in Austin, Texas, last week for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 7 in Austin, the Austin Police Department charged 37-year-old Optimus Prime Blakely with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The affidavit states that Blakely was stopped by officers on June 4 while driving a vehicle on Congress Avenue near Radam Lane, which had been reported stolen.
Optimus Prime is a well-known character from the 1980s cartoon Transformers, later featured in blockbuster movies with stars like Mark Wahlberg, Shia LeBeouf, and Megan Fox. The concept of the series involves alien robots disguising themselves as vehicles, everyday objects, or insects.
As a robot in disguise, Optimus Prime transforms into a red and blue semi-truck.
Following his arrest, Blakely was taken to police headquarters for processing and then transferred to Travis County Jail, where he was held on an $8,000 bond.
