A haboob in Chowchilla, Calif., caused a massive vehicle pile-up on State Route 152 in Madera County, sending numerous individuals to hospitals with minor injuries, according to authorities.
The dust storm, which reduced visibility on Monday afternoon, led to about 20 cars crashing into each other, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
Video footage shared online by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection captured the immense wall of dust sweeping through the area near Chowchilla.
One motorist, Delissa Fulce, described the experience as terrifying, recounting multiple collisions and fearing for their life. Fortunately, they escaped with minor injuries.
Several individuals were treated for minor injuries, although the exact number was not specified by the highway patrol.
