Police Seize Millions of Dollars Worth of Illegal Marijuana Products in Brooklyn Warehouse
Authorities discovered a significant amount of illegal marijuana products valued at millions of dollars in a Brooklyn warehouse on Friday morning.
Law enforcement officers were alerted to a burglary in progress at 65 Adelphi Street around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found three individuals inside the warehouse along with a large quantity of marijuana and THC products, according to police reports.
The illicit cannabis products, including marijuana and THC-infused gummies, were reportedly sent from overseas with the intention of being distributed to illegal dispensaries in New York City, as stated by the New York City Sheriff’s Office in a report by WABC.
A spokesperson from City Hall described the operation as one of the largest crackdowns on an illegal marijuana distributor to date.
“Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the New York City Sheriff’s Office and the NYPD, we were able to conduct a significant operation against a cannabis distributor, seizing millions of dollars worth of products including edibles, vapes, pre-rolls, and more,” reported the station.
“A single pack of edibles can fetch up to $50, and the profits from selling these unregulated, illegal products are staggering,” stated NYC Sheriff’s Office Commanding Officer Maureen Kokeas in an interview with the outlet.
Authorities arrested Nigel Sandy, 37, from Brooklyn, and Michael Davis, 37, and John Layne, 36, both from the Bronx. They were charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools, according to police reports.
