A Minnesota man, Rodney Andersen, aged 85, admitted to losing control and stabbing his wife, Janet Louise Andersen, aged 83, to death with a kitchen knife in their Annandale home. The brutal attack led to Janet Andersen lying in the kitchen, heavily bleeding from multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, according to court documents.
Andersen confessed to Annandale police that he “lost his head” during a big argument with his wife of 66 years. He called the authorities himself at 9:54 a.m. and waited for them outside his home, shaking with his hands on his head, where they found a bloody knife in the kitchen sink.
Police discovered that the couple had a history of continuous arguing, leading to the fatal incident. Andersen mentioned that he grabbed the weapon from the kitchen butcher block and stabbed his wife at least once in the middle, unsure of the force he used.
Despite paramedics finding Janet Andersen’s body still warm, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodney Andersen was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted. He is currently held on $1 million bail at Wright County Jail, awaiting his next court date.
