A Missouri Police Officer and Mother of Six Killed in High-Speed Chase
A tragic incident unfolded in Missouri as police officer Phylicia Carson, 33, and mother of six, lost her life during a high-speed chase while trying to conduct a traffic stop. The Osage Beach police officer was on patrol when she spotted a speeding vehicle in Camden County near the Lake of the Ozarks. Chief Todd Davis revealed during a press conference that Carson activated her police lights to pursue the suspect, who refused to stop.
Despite her efforts, Carson lost control of her patrol car while chasing the suspect, causing it to crash into a tree and burst into flames. The department received reports of the incident but was unable to reach Carson. Tragically, she perished in the crash, leaving behind her husband, Grant Carson, and their six children.
The suspect, Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, 23, also crashed after fleeing the scene and was later arrested. He faces charges related to the incident, including aggravated fleeing resulting in death.
The community, including Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe, expressed their condolences for Carson’s untimely death. The state is conducting an investigation into the incident, as it marked the police department’s first line-of-duty loss in 30 years.
Carson’s tragic passing has left a void in the hearts of many, with family friend Cira Clement Monnig describing her as a loving, inspiring, and devoted individual. The community mourns her loss and remembers her as a dedicated officer and mother.
As the investigation continues, the Osage Beach Police Department and the community come together to honor Carson’s legacy and support her grieving family during this difficult time.
