Shocking Ring footage captures the chilling moment a Florida pre-med student concealed a knife behind his back as he approached his mother’s front door before brutally stabbing her “in excess of 70 times.”
Emmanuel Espinoza, 21, was on his way to a family gathering for his grandfather when his mother, Elvia Espinoza, 46, invited him to stay with her at her home two hours south of Orlando for the weekend.
The disturbing new video shows the 21-year-old wearing dark shades, light blue jeans, and a navy blue shirt as he casually walks up to his mother’s front door around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
As he walks, Espinoza can be seen hiding something in his left hand, and as he reaches the door, the footage reveals that he is holding a knife.
Espinoza tries to open the door before being met by his unsuspecting mother.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd mentioned that Espinoza was listening to Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church In the Wild” as he approached the home, and he “charged in and started stabbing her” as soon as she opened the door.
“He knew where to stab her for maximum effect because of his biology classes,” Judd explained.
“We have another audio that we’re not going to play from inside the house, where [his mom is] screaming ‘Manny, Manny, Manny’ and he’s not saying one word. He stabbed her over 70 times.”
Judd revealed that Espinoza had admitted that although he loved his mother, he had been angry with her and had “wanted to kill her for years” and finally acted on it.
“As she tried to get up off the floor, he stabbed her some more,” Judd said.
“He said he noticed her hands were still moving, so he stabbed her some more.”
Espinoza then confessed to detectives that he had cut his hand on the knife while attacking his mother.
“And as he stood at the kitchen sink, washing himself off and the knife, he wanted to ask his mother for the Neosporin for the cut on his hand. But he noticed she was dead.”
Right after the horrific murder, Espinoza called 911 and confessed to dispatchers the tragic event that had unfolded.
Espinoza has been charged with first-degree murder and taken to Polk County Jail.
Tributes poured in for Espinoza’s mother, who was a second-grade teacher at Frostproof Ben Hill Griffin Jr. Elementary School, after the shocking news rocked the community.
“Elvia was full of life and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Elvia truly enjoyed spending time with her family and was a light in everyone’s life,” a tribute to the late 46-year-old stated.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
