An MTA bus driver was attacked by a rider who became angry and hit him after the driver refused to let him off the bus mid-stop in Brooklyn on Friday, according to authorities and sources.
The bus driver, Ian Bascombe, 58, was driving the B41 at Foster and Flatbush avenues in Kensington around 12:20 p.m. when a “known recidivist” customer, Quentin Branch, 33, demanded to be let off because he had boarded the wrong bus, police and sources reported.
Despite Bascombe’s attempts to continue driving until finding a safe place to stop, Branch was not willing to wait, sources said.
The angry rider reportedly spat at Bascombe and threatened to break his jaw before punching him in the left eye, sources stated.
Bascombe then allegedly used a sharp object to stab Branch in the head and left leg, according to police.
Both men were taken to the Kings County Hospital Center for treatment and were subsequently arrested, the police said.
Branch, from East Flatbush, was charged with second- and third-degree assault and harassment, authorities confirmed.
