Former President Donald Trump delivered a message that aired on NBC following Vice President Kamala Harris’s appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Trump’s one-minute prerecorded message was broadcast during a NASCAR race on Nov. 3 and later during an NFL game. He emphasized the upcoming presidential election on Nov. 5 and expressed concerns about the state of the country.
Trump stated, “We’re two days away from the most important election in the history of our country. We’ve got to save our country, and it needs saving. It’s in very bad shape. We’re going to end up in a depression based on what’s been happening.”
He outlined his priorities for the country, including closing borders, lowering taxes, and addressing inflation. Trump asserted his ability to fix these issues.
NBC did not comment on the development, but it aired Harris’s live appearance on SNL. In a skit, Harris portrayed a conversation with another version of herself, reflecting on the unique challenges she faces as a black, South Asian woman running for president.
FCC Commissioner Brandon Carr raised concerns about Harris’s appearance potentially violating FCC rules against using public airwaves to influence elections without offering equal time to opposing candidates. The FCC requires broadcasters to provide equal opportunities to all legally qualified candidates.
Despite potential concerns, NBC reported that Harris’s appearance was without charge and lodged a notice with the FCC regarding the airtime she received on the network.
