A fundraiser organized to honor the fraternity members has raised over $510,000 in just a few days.
Former President Donald Trump has released a campaign ad applauding students who stood up against disruptive protesters. The ad highlights a group of University of North Carolina (UNC) students who gained attention for holding up an American flag to prevent it from touching the ground.
âWhile campuses are struggling to maintain order, at UNC Chapel Hill, they are restoring order,â the ad narrator states over dramatic music.
The ad showcases the brave actions of the UNC-Chapel Hill chapter of Pi Kappa Phi members who defended the flag from protesters who were hurling objects and insults at them.
âMy fraternity brother and others rushed to hold [the flag] up to prevent it from touching the ground,â wrote Mr. Estrada, a member of the Class of 2027. âPeople started throwing objects at us, yelling profanities. We stood for an hour defending the flag that many fight to protect.â
âGod bless those UNC frat guys for taking down the Palestinian flag and putting up Old Glory,â the ad continued, showing more scenes of patriotic counter-protesters at various institutions such as the Universities of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
The ad concludes with a segment featuring some counter-protesters raising a Trump campaign flag, demonstrating his popularity among young patriotic individuals.
Recognition for Patriotism
The fraternity brothers who defended the flag are being recognized for their patriotic actions.
At the time of writing, a GoFundMe page created to organize a celebration for the fraternity members had raised over $510,000.
âCommunist individuals have infiltrated college campuses across the nation, making unreasonable demands of weak university administrators,â reads a portion of the GoFundMe page. âHowever, amidst the chaos, the yelling, the anti-Semitic behavior, the disdain for faith and flag, a group of American heroes stood strong.â
âClad in Vineyard Vines and Patagonia, fueled by Zyn and White Claws, these victorious Brohemians defended Old Glory from the unwashed Marxist crowdâlaughing at their cries and protecting the Stars & Stripes from enemy attacks.â
Their actions have also caught the attention of country music star John Rich, who offered to host a free concert to commemorate their âfreedom celebration.â
In an update on Wednesday, the âSave a Horseâ singer informed his followers on X that he had been in touch with the UNC fraternity members and was arranging the event.
An Effective Solution to Safeguard American Flags
X owner Elon Musk has also shared his thoughts on the social media trend, proposing a straightforward solution for those who attempt to replace an American flag with that of another countryâa one-way plane ticket to that country.
âProposed legislation: if someone removes the American flag and raises another flag in its place, that individual should receive a free (but mandatory) one-way trip to the country of that flag,â he posted on X on Thursday alongside a poll asking users if they would support such a policy.
âIâm not saying they canât return, but they should spend some time in that country before coming back,â he clarified.
Upon revealing the final poll results on Friday, the response to Mr. Muskâs proposal was overwhelmingly positive. Out of 1.5 million X users who participated in the poll, nearly 1.2 million (79.9 percent) expressed support for the policy, while fewer than 300,000 (20.1 percent) opposed it.
