A tragic incident occurred in New Jersey where a 4-month-old infant lost his life after being left in a hot car for an extended period. The father, Moshe Ehrlich, has been charged in connection with the child’s death.
Authorities did not specify the exact duration the infant was left alone in the father’s Toyota minivan in Lakewood, where temperatures reached 63 degrees on that fateful day.
Local news coverage showed officers surrounding the parked van, which was left exposed to direct sunlight.
Upon receiving a 911 call about an unresponsive child around 1:45 p.m., Lakewood police rushed to the scene on a residential block near Fifth Street. The child was found near a kosher supermarket and synagogues, just three blocks from where Ehrlich resides.
“Responding Officers found Hatzolah Medical Services attempting to render lifesaving aid to a 4-month-old male infant,” as stated by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
The infant was rushed to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
After thorough investigation, detectives concluded that the boy was left alone in Ehrlich’s vehicle for an extended period, leading to the tragic outcome.
Ehrlich was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with child endangerment. He was later released by a judge following his surrender to the authorities.
Despite attempts to reach out, the family did not provide any comments regarding the incident. The identity of the baby has not been disclosed by investigators.
