The British government has recently implemented a new law that requires chicken owners, even those who keep just one or two as pets, to register their birds. However, the online animal registration portal that was set up had to be shut down due to the overwhelming number of people attempting to sign up. Reports from British media indicate that many individuals were attempting to register roasted chickens found in their refrigerators. Officials have stated that the registration process is intended to prevent the spread of bird flu and also includes other birds such as parrots and finches, if they are ever taken outside the home. In light of the website being down, owners are now instructed to register their birds via email.
