Days ahead of its release, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is embroiled in more controversy
First, Noem made headlines for shooting and killing her dog, Cricket, for misbehaving. Then, another bombshell emerged from her upcoming memoir, “No Going Back” — a claim that she met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which has since been debunked.
Noem’s spokesperson, Ian Fury, acknowledged the inaccuracies in the book, stating that the publisher would address the issue before its release. Additionally, an excerpt from the memoir reveals a peculiar story involving former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
In the excerpt, Noem recounts a conversation with Haley in which she offers to mentor Noem. However, Haley’s spokesperson, Chaney Denton, clarified that the call took place in 2020, not 2021, and was meant to offer support during a challenging time for Noem.
Noem also accuses Haley of being a “lone wolf” for her response to the January 6 Capitol riot, highlighting their differing views on supporting former President Donald Trump.
Ultimately, the validity of the stories in Noem’s memoir has come into question, with conflicting accounts from those involved.
