An unsuspecting driver killed by apparent stray bullet in Queens
An unsuspecting driver was tragically killed by an apparent stray bullet while driving in Queens, causing his SUV to veer into a female pedestrian, according to police.
William Alcindor, 66, was driving a 2014 gray Nissan east on Baisley Boulevard and turning onto northbound Farmers Boulevard in St. Albans around 4:50 p.m. when he was struck in the head by a bullet that investigators believe was intended for someone else, authorities reported.
As a result of the fatal gunshot wound, Alcindor lost control of his vehicle and collided with a 23-year-old woman, police stated.
Alcindor, a resident of Cambria Heights about 2 miles away, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The female pedestrian, who sustained leg injuries, was also taken to the same hospital and is in stable condition, according to authorities.
The suspected shooter, depicted in an NYPD-released photo, is described as having black hair, a medium complexion, a slim build, and weighing approximately 150 pounds.
The shooter was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and a black surgical mask, authorities disclosed.
It is believed that the young gunman was accompanied by at least two other individuals, though the exact number is still being investigated as police review video footage, sources revealed.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and it’s unclear who the intended target was, police mentioned.
As of Tuesday morning, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
