A 15-year-old boy has been taken into police custody after officers allegedly witnessed him shooting a man near a Bronx courthouse in broad daylight on Wednesday.
Police from the 44th Precinct were on patrol near East 161st Street and Morris Avenue at around 2:40 p.m. when they observed the teenager pulling out a gun and firing multiple shots at a 29-year-old man.
The man was struck once in the chest, and the teenager fled the scene, according to authorities.
Emergency Medical Services rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
The officers who witnessed the shooting pursued the young gunman and apprehended him several blocks away at East 156th Street and Courtlandt Avenue, where he was taken into custody.
Investigators found a firearm at the scene.
As of late Wednesday night, charges were still pending against the teenager.
Authorities are looking into whether the shooting was gang-related, sources reported.
