I have been a member of several boards throughout my life, including writing groups, publishing groups, and a political group. I often took on the role of secretary due to my writing skills and fast note-taking abilities. However, I recently decided to step down from these positions as I felt overwhelmed by the constant meetings and note-taking responsibilities.
Although I enjoyed the camaraderie of being on these boards, I have come to realize that I thrive more as an individual contributor rather than a group leader or follower. I recently resigned from the boards of the political group and Florida Authors and Publishers, feeling a sense of relief and freedom.
Despite stepping down from these roles, I remain a member of both organizations and continue to participate in meetings and events. The differences between the two groups, such as the Bay Area Independent Publishers Group and Florida Authors and Publishers, highlight the unique dynamics of each organization.
Now that I am no longer tied to board responsibilities, I am contemplating how to spend my newfound free time. I am considering dedicating more time to my passions, such as playing the keyboard, writing songs, and working on my novel drafts. The possibilities are endless, and I look forward to exploring new opportunities in this next chapter of my life.
