Two college students from Oklahoma had a terrifying experience during their vacation in Mexico when they fell seriously ill after drinking water at a resort bar, leading doctors to suspect foul play.
Kaylie Pitze and Zara Hull had traveled to Cancun with friends from Oklahoma Christian University for a planned vacation, as reported by KOCO.
Their trip took a turn for the worse when they visited the resort’s pool bar and ordered glasses of water on Friday.
Both students suddenly felt disoriented and collapsed after drinking the water, with Hull experiencing jerking movements, according to reports.
Unable to walk, they were wheeled back to their room where they struggled with various symptoms.
Pitze described feeling nauseous and unable to move the next morning, while Hull suffered stomach convulsions and had to be rushed to a Mexican hospital.
Hull’s condition worsened as she required medical treatment, but her family faced challenges with hospital demands for deposits and escalating costs.
Eventually, Hull was evacuated back to the US for proper care, thanks to the support of friends and family.
As the girls recovered in the US, doctors suspected that their water may have been spiked with a dangerous substance like synthetic fentanyl.
While Hull continues to recover in the hospital, Pitze emphasized the importance of caution while traveling, warning that such incidents could happen to anyone.
